Athanassios Nikolaides Prof. Dr. Civil Engineer, Consultant, specialised in: Highway engineering, Highway engineering materials and Testing, Airport engineering, International Specifications; Member of Institutions; Worked in Europe and Asia as Consultant specialist; Technical advisor to the State owned highway implementation company Egnatia S.A. and to private construction companies; Published 66 papers in Scientific Journals and International Conferences; Presented papers/lectures in 31 seminars in various countries; Carried out more than 79 Consultancy works and studies in Highway engineering and Airports; Participated in 13 research projects, in 9 of which was the Team leader; Supervised eleven (11) Ph.D. students; External examiner in five (6) Ph.D. abroad and in nine (9) in Greece; Supervised more than 70 final year projects; Founder and President of the International Conference in Bituminous Mixtures and Pavements in 1992, 1996, 2002 and 2007; Member of  Scientific/Technical Committees of International Conferences; Member of the Editorial Advisory Panel of ICE (UK) Journal ‘Construction Materials’; Author of three books: a) "Highway Engineering: Pavements, Materials and Control of Quality (1996, 2002-2^nd edition), b) ‘Airports: Design and Construction’ (2000) and c) Flexible pavements: Pavement design methodology, Bituminous mixtures and Wearing courses (2005).
